Serving Humanity
Through Spiritual Care
Empowering Muslims across the United States to become accredited, professional chaplains — answering the call to serve in hospitals, prisons, universities, and beyond.

Why Muslim Chaplaincy Matters
Muslim chaplains serve people of all faiths and none, offering compassionate spiritual care rooted in professional chaplaincy and informed by the Islamic tradition.
Their presence enriches interdisciplinary care teams, strengthens culturally responsive care, and ensures spiritual support reflects the communities they serve. The National Muslim Chaplains Association (NMCA) exists to advance this profession through education, mentorship, professional development, and collaboration — preparing chaplains across healthcare, higher education, corrections, hospice, the military, and community settings.
Five Pillars of Our Work
Education
Accessible pathways into CPE, professional certification, and career guidance — equipping aspiring Muslim chaplains with everything they need to begin and grow.
Mentorship
Connecting aspiring chaplains with experienced professionals who offer guidance, encouragement, and practical insight throughout the journey.
Advancement
Growing the presence of Muslim chaplains across every institutional setting through targeted education, advocacy, and professional development.
Community
Building a national network so chaplains and CPE students are connected, resourced, and mutually supported wherever they are in the country.
Resources
Practical tools, guides, templates, and educational materials that support chaplains, students, institutions, and the broader Muslim community.
The Gold Standard of Spiritual Care
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is the nationally and internationally recognized standard for professional spiritual care. Developed over decades and supervised by accredited educators, CPE trains chaplains to provide compassionate, evidence-informed support in the most demanding environments.
For Muslim communities, CPE is the gateway to recognition, credentialing, and employment as a professional chaplain. It is not just training — it is the foundation of a lifetime of service.
